A bookcase with turned columns, surmounted cornice and diamond panel doors -  of the Biedermeier style of designs.

A few examples of Simon Spencer’s designs for bookcases in factory production, before they have been installed and painted, these illustrate other design lines often followed and were designed by Simon Spencer during the lifetime of Thistle Joinery Ltd.

A design of a free standing  bookcase with a “kneehole” cupboard below, and concealed desk above with classic pilasters with “Classical Greek” style heads, double cornice and a full pediment.

Simon Spencer’s design for a bookcase in the Art Nouveau after the Glasgow style or the designer, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, whose  style of furniture dominated the Scottish scene in the late 19th early 20th Century.  This style of design was specially commissioned for a client in Scotland  who wanted a bookcase to harmonize with the building.

This minimalist style of Simon Spencer’s design, illustrated above, during installation,  of his manufactured design for a desk and working area incorporated drawers and filing drawers with a wide clear working area and adjustable side shelves, all clean, flush finished with balanced head and base to “float” when painted.   Click on the image to take you to the finished work.
