This large Library was designed by Simon for quiet, serious, study and research work. It is a complete exercise in fitted furniture beyond most peoples requirements as it runs on all four walls of the hall below the sky lights and windows above.

In this very small library designed with built in bookcases had one of the shelf spaces turned into a bar cupboard behind false leather bound book backs (those on the left side are real).  Clever use of overhead down lights were introduced to enhance the top shelves.

Note how the border around the polished floor follows Simon’s desgin for the built in bookcases.  The floor was laid after the bookcase installation so that this could be achieved and kept the floor in pristine condition because the bookcases were installed first.

This is a typical examples of Simon’s design ability in overcoming the problems of built in book cases with a returned corner book case in this tiny library .  It was designed to be fitted into the side hall of a country house to accommodate the books and allow for a quiet area in which to work and to get away from the family at home.
